What is it like to earn 50 LPA in India?

What is it like to earn 50 Lpa in India ?
PATHETIC.
Yes, you read it correctly. It's pathetic to earn anything more than 20 LPA ( Take home )
I'm the Head of transformation, management support and transversal projects within a corporate bank.
I started off at 7.5 LPA 15 years ago. At that time it was a huge amount taking the inflation rate and expenses into account. My job required me to work for 8–10 hours a day with Saturday and Sunday off.
2 years down the line, after completing many different courses, I got a promotion and now my salary was 12 LPA. Since I had a lot of knowledge about different processes I was asked to work way more than I was paid to. I remember working at odd shifts every week. It was like hell as my body gave up trying to adjust to all these timings.
I left my job for a better job in Transversal and transformations projects. I got a pretty decent hike and my salary was around 19–20 LPA. This job required me to travel a lot. My job role in short was too learn a process abroad and come back and implement it. It was kind of like the previous job but the difference was instead of working in shifts, I was working in different time zones every month itself. Job pressure was killing me but I made it through.
Soon I was promoted as the Senior manager and my salary hiked upto 32 LPA. Till here life was livable. I was leading a comfortable life at home, going for vacations twice a year. Traveling.
But then I was offered to be the Head of transformation, management support and transversal projects. Salary offered was around 51 LPA. I gladly accepted it. It was the happiest day of my life. I felt I've done so good for myself, my parents were proud of me. I decided to get married.
2 months down the line when I was happily married to the girl I loved for years, everything changed. My learning and understanding phase about all the processes was over and it was time for me to get into action. The first 1-2 months were hectic, 12–15 hours of work. Presentations everyday, talking to clients all around the world which made me a person who'd sleep whenever he gets time. I remember sleeping one day at 6 am, and the next time at 9 pm. My body was fucked. There were weeks I wouldn't be able to talk to my wife. I'll be working from 12 am till 3 pm. Days were harsh. Nights were harsher. Then it became even worse when I was being transfered to Paris for a 2 months project. My wife decided to quit her job and come with me. She was lonely, once we moved there. Atleast in India my parents were there with her. Soon within some days she went into a depression. I had never seen her like that. I hadn't seen myself like this. My body was depriciating, decaying inside. Work killed me.
2 weeks back exactly my wife told me that she wants to take a break and she flew back to India. We didn't talk since then, yet. This is the last thing message I'm writing before giving my resignation.
Trust me when I say this,
IF A COMPANY IS READY TO PAY YOU A LOT OF MONEY, IT'S FOR THE AMOUNT OF WORK THEY CAN THROW AT YOU WITHOUT YOU BEING ABLE TO TURN IT DOWN
**************************************
My View Point:
There should be a balance between time and money else you won't be able to use that money and your life will be miserable.
Don't just run .. Enjoy the journey, because that's what it is all about, if you are aiming to enjoy after reaching some destination, you will regret that..... Take a stop and see the things you are missing........
